Work Performed:

Sets up and operates all types of cutter grinding machines to grind all varieties of high speed steel and carbide cutting tools to specified angles, radii and clearances, including circular, flat and irregularly shaped tools. Sets up exacting work to extremely close tolerances. Selects wheels, feeds and speeds. Dresses wheels as required. May be required to grind or sharpen all types of cutters. Sets up cutting tool assemblies for machine tools and sets up and grinds crush rolls.

Tools & Equipment Used:

All types of grinders, tool setting equipment, machinists’ hand tools, precision-measuring instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements:

Five years related experience, including three years as a Grinder, Form Tool with 60 days tool setting training or experience.
