Pipistrel is looking for a Flight Test Engineer (FTE) to join its Flight Test department. Reporting to the Head of Flight Test, your role will see you independently lead experimental and certification flight test activities of cutting-edge aircraft.
What will your main scope be?
• Perform flight test planning and safety-of-flight activities.
• Act as test conductor during flight tests, on-board or in Telemetry Room providing direction and leadership during tests to ensure test safety and efficiency.
• Perform flight test data analysis and produce clear and concise flight test reports.
• Collaborate with Flight Test Instrumentation engineers for FTI requirements definition.
• Collaborate with other engineering departments during the aircraft design phase and in system test and qualification activities.
• Support regulatory activities for the obtainment of flight authorizations working closely with the airworthiness department and representing the company with aviation authorities.
• Collaborate with the technical documentation team in the preparation of Aircraft Flight Manuals and other technical documentation.
What do we expect from the candidate?
• A university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., aerospace, or equivalent).
• Previous relevant experience (2-5 years) in the field of flight testing is highly desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of flight mechanics, aircraft performance and aircraft systems.
• Knowledge of EASA/FAA certification requirements is desirable.
• Experience testing of special mission payloads is desirable.
• A pilot licence or any flight experience is desirable.
• Medical fitness to perform tasks related to flight test activities including on board experimental aircraft.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Willing to work independently and demonstrate leadership during test operations.
• Possess outstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Has the capability to write accurate, concise, focused, and consistent technical documentation and reports.
• Willingness to travel out of company base location for test campaigns.
• Excellent knowledge of the English language.
