JOB SUMMARY
The Associate, Tax Compliance will support quality tax compliance in accordance with Textron’s fiduciary processes, policies, and procedures. This person will support tax compliance by processing and coordinating incoming/outgoing mail. They will also research, respond, and/or resolve tax notices received from state and local jurisdictions for multiple business units, and handle document retention. The role will also include preparation and filing of zero-dollar sales/use tax returns that must be timely filed and paid.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the payroll, property tax and sales and use tax functions
- Maintain sales/use and payroll tax email inboxes, incoming/outgoing postal mail, and phone inquiries by logging/researching/resolving issues
- Respond to sales/use and payroll tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities
- Support the notice resolution process for payroll tax items unresolved by ADP & Experian
- Support the POA & Tax registration processes with completing forms, obtaining proper signatures and coordinating documentation with taxing jurisdictions
- Prepare and file multi-state zero-dollar sales and use tax returns in a timely manner
- Conduct document retention by scanning/indexing returns and tax notices into Hyland software
- Maintain required internal controls as mandated by Sarbanes Oxley
- Perform other responsibilities and analysis, including special projects
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field, or a minimum of 0-1 years relevant work experience
- Prior sales and use tax compliance and/or consulting experience a plus
- General Ledger/Accounting/Finance experience a plus

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral, or diagram form
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist
- Basic MS Office skills and ability to learn and utilize other systems/software (MS Office, SAP, Lawson, GTD, TaxSolver/Sovos Filing, Vertex, Hyland)
